Who We Are?
ABOUT US
Gigs4Gaza is an experiment to test the power and potential of a circular Muslim economy to unite the ummah and uplift our brothers and sisters in isolated regional economies in the global South.
THE PROBLEM
At over 2billion worldwide, the global Muslim community constitutes the largest portion of the potential global workforce, with partial employment via online freelancing growing in the developing Muslim world. At the same time, Muslim-run businesses make up an increasingly significant buying power within the global marketplace, with many in the West taking advantage of the global economy to hire lower cost freelance labor abroad. Currently, a lot of this economic power leaks out of the ummah as a missed opportunity.
THE THESIS
When given an easy and effective means to match with Muslim talent, Muslim employers will preferentially hire Muslim freelancers to increase employment and impact in our community.
THE PAYOFF
By creating infrastructure for a circular Muslim economy, we can repatriate a meaningful proportion of the economic output of Muslim businesses worldwide back into the Ummah, increasing Muslim employment and stimulating local Muslim economies in the Global South.
Additionally, instead of platform fees leaving our community and in some cases helping fund the oppression of our brothers and sisters in Palestine, they can be reinvested into our ummah to uplift our brothers and sisters by removing barriers to employment and supporting skill development to increase earning potential and full time employment.
